At Play Smart, we believe in a multi-age classroom. Children of similar ages and skills naturally compare themselves to one another. In a mixed-age classroom, attention is instead drawn to the range of talents and abilities within the class. Moreover, older children have an opportunity to mentor younger children in the classroom, model appropriate behaviors, and assist younger children.
At Play Smart, we believe in play-based, child-led, and open-ended learning. Play-based learning allows children to be active and involved in their learning. It helps children develop social skills, take the initiative, enable curiosity and most importantly, provides for age-appropriate academic learning. “The impulse to play comes from a natural desire to understand the world.” www.naeyc.org
